戦争と共に発展する皮肉な報道技術

　昔書いた原稿。半年前のなんで古いですが。 ---- 　イラク戦争では、フリージャーナリストたちによるコンテンツの配信が盛んに行われている。湾岸戦争時代と違い、大手マスコミからの中継配信をすることなく、その場で作った動画・音声データを直接配信することができる技術が整ってきたからだ。 　たとえば、代表される技術に、スウェーデン・Swe-Dish Satellite Systems社のIPT Suitcaseと呼ばれる可搬衛星通信システムがある。たった35kg弱で2Mbpsの通信速度（日本に当初普及したADSL規格、1.5Mbpsより高速）を誇り、動画・音声の配信をも可能にしている。 　衛星電話システムも、当面は主要な伝達手段になるだろう。しかし、今の速度でデジタル技術革新が進めば、動画・音声・テキスト情報など、それぞれネットを介して送信することで、ジャーナリストたちは自分のノートパソコンから直接放送できる「モバイル個人報道システム」の準備がいずれ整うことになる。 　実際に、イギリス・TVZ社がLaptop News Gathering（LNG）という動画圧縮技術を販売開始したところ、各国の主要な報道機関がこぞって利用し、現在のイラク戦争報道に役立てているのだ。 　ネットの個人・独立サイトにもBlog（ブログ）が変化をもたらした。シンプルなテキストベースのBlogは、書き手と読み手との垣根を壊しつつある。報道の情報革新も同時多発的に起こっているようだ。
